Vegan Aldi and Lidl Guide UK: Best Budget Vegan Shopping
Aldi and Lidl are the undisputed champions of budget vegan shopping in the UK. Their dedicated ranges are often half the price of branded equivalents, and they regularly launch limited-edition vegan products that sell out fast.
Aldi Plant Menu range
- Plant Menu Burgers — from £1.99 for two. Multiple flavours.
- Plant Menu Sausages — six for about £1.49.
- Plant Menu Mince — 89p for 400g — the cheapest vegan mince in any major supermarket.
- Plant Menu No Chicken Pieces — around £1.99.
- Plant Menu Ready Meals — lasagne, curry, and more from £1.99.
- Vegan Croissants and Pains au Chocolat — launched each January for Veganuary but increasingly available year-round. £2.09 for 8 — the cheapest vegan pastries in the UK.
Lidl Vemondo range
- Vemondo Burgers — competitive with Aldi on price.
- Vemondo Nuggets — from £1.69.
- Vemondo Cheese — slices and blocks, around £1.49.
- Vemondo Oat Milk — 59p per litre. Possibly the cheapest oat milk in the UK.
- Vemondo Yoghurts — coconut or soy based, often under £1.
The Aldi vs Lidl verdict
Aldi has the wider vegan range and more seasonal specials. Lidl has slightly cheaper dairy alternatives (especially oat milk and yoghurt). Both are significantly cheaper than Tesco, Sainsbury’s, and M&S for vegan products. If you are vegan on a budget, these two should be your primary shops.
