Vegan KFC UK: What Can You Actually Order in 2026?
KFC and veganism sound like opposites, but the UK menu has more options than you might think. The Original Recipe Vegan Burger is the headline act, but there are sides and sauces that work too.
Vegan options at KFC UK
- Original Recipe Vegan Burger — a Quorn fillet coated in KFC’s Original Recipe herbs and spices, served in a glazed bun with vegan mayo and iceberg lettuce. Cooked in a separate fryer from the chicken.
- Corn on the Cob — served plain without butter. Vegan.
- BBQ Beans — vegan side dish.
- Garden Salad — without dressing (ask which dressings are vegan).
Vegan sauces
- BBQ sauce — vegan.
- Sweet Chilli sauce — vegan.
- Tomato Ketchup — vegan.
What is NOT vegan at KFC UK
- Fries — despite having vegan ingredients, KFC fries are NOT vegan in the UK. They are cooked in a shared fryer with chicken products.
- All chicken products — Original Recipe, Zinger, Popcorn Chicken, Wings, Strips.
- Gravy — made with chicken stock. Not vegan.
- Coleslaw — contains egg-based mayonnaise.
- Buttermilk dip and garlic mayo — contain dairy and egg.
- Krushems and milkshakes — contain dairy.
- Rice Box meals — contain chicken-based gravy.
Is the Vegan Burger actually good?
Honestly, yes. The Original Recipe coating is what makes KFC taste like KFC, and they use the same blend of herbs and spices on the vegan fillet. The Quorn fillet has a chicken-like texture that works well with the coating. It is the closest any fast food chain has got to replicating the fried chicken experience for vegans.
Cross-contamination
KFC states that the Vegan Burger is cooked in a separate fryer from chicken products. However, it is assembled in the same kitchen by the same staff. For most vegans this is acceptable, but those with severe allergies should be aware.
