Vegan Wetherspoons UK: What to Order at Spoons
Wetherspoons might not be the first place you think of for vegan food, but their menu actually has more options than many independent pubs. The menu is standardised across all locations, so what works in one Spoons works in all of them.
Vegan mains
- Five-Bean Chilli — served with rice and a bread roll. The most reliable vegan main.
- Burger with a plant-based patty — Beyond Meat or similar patty in a bun with salad. Ask for no cheese and no mayo.
- Curry of the day (check) — Wetherspoons rotates curries. Some days the vegetable curry is vegan, others it contains cream. Always ask.
- Jacket Potato with Beans — simple, reliable, always vegan.
Vegan sides
- Chips — cooked in vegetable oil. Vegan.
- Garden Peas — vegan.
- Baked Beans — vegan.
- Side Salad — without dressing.
- Bread Roll — usually vegan but check with staff.
Vegan breakfast
Wetherspoons serves breakfast from opening until noon. A vegan breakfast can be assembled from: toast (check bread), baked beans, mushrooms, tomatoes, hash browns. The sausages on the standard breakfast are not vegan. Some locations stock vegan sausages but this varies.
Vegan drinks
Most draught beers and ciders are vegan, but some cask ales may use isinglass. Wetherspoons uses the Cask Marque scheme which doesn’t specify fining agents. If in doubt, stick to lager or bottled beers. See our guide to vegan alcohol. All soft drinks, spirits, and wine (by the glass) are fine. Plant milk is available for hot drinks at most locations.
Tips
Use the Wetherspoons app to order — it shows allergen information for every dish. Look for the “V” symbol (vegan) on the menu, but always double-check with staff as the symbol is sometimes used inconsistently.
