Vegan Burger King UK: The Complete Menu Guide 2026
Burger King was one of the first fast food chains to launch a plant-based burger in the UK, and their vegan range has expanded since. Here is everything you can order.
Vegan options
✓ These Burger King items are vegan
- Plant-Based Whopper — a soy and wheat protein patty flame-grilled and served with tomato, lettuce, pickles, onion, ketchup, and vegan mayo in a sesame bun. The burger itself is vegan but is cooked on the same broiler as meat patties.
- Vegan Royale — a plant-based chicken-style patty with vegan mayo and lettuce. Cooked in a separate fryer.
- Vegan Nuggets — plant-based nuggets, available in 6 or 9 piece portions. Cooked in a separate fryer from chicken.
- Fries — cooked in vegetable oil. Vegan.
- Hash Browns (breakfast) — vegan.
- Garden Side Salad — without dressing.
- Onion Rings — check current formulation as these have changed in the past. Ask in-store.
Vegan sauces
- Ketchup, BBQ sauce, Sweet Chilli — all vegan.
- Vegan Mayo — specifically labelled, ask for it.
What is NOT vegan
✗ Avoid these
- All beef and chicken burgers — including the regular Whopper, Chicken Royale, and all crispy chicken items.
- Regular Mayo and Garlic Mayo — contain egg. Always specify vegan mayo.
- Cheese — if ordering the Plant-Based Whopper, make sure it comes without cheese (some locations add it by default).
- Milkshakes and ice cream — contain dairy.
- Bacon — obviously not vegan, but some meal deals include it. Check your order.
The broiler debate
The Plant-Based Whopper is cooked on the same flame broiler as beef patties. Burger King is transparent about this. The Vegan Royale and Vegan Nuggets are cooked in separate fryers. If cross-contamination matters to you, the Vegan Royale is the safer choice.
